MBABANE – The ‘Guinea mission’ at Sihlangu is taking shape. The squad’s head coach, Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga, has called up eight new players to join the national team, Sihlangu’s full-time camp ahead of the trip to Morocco for the African Nations Cup (AFCON) Qualifier clash against Guinea.

The latest move brings the squad’s players in full-time camp to 25. Sihlangu play Guinea on Friday next week in Casablanca, Morocco.
Getting an overdue call-up to the nation’s pride is Moneni Pirates’ industrious midfielder Bongani Ndzimandze, alongside Manzini Sundowns’ workaholic midfielder Phinda Ginindza.

A surprise inclusion is that of Mbabane Highlanders’ lanky anchorman Ntando Thusi. Mbabane Swallows utility player Mandla Palma has also been recalled, alongside Green Mamba marksman Phinda ‘Phindrix’ Dlamini.

Other new call-ups include national Under-23 squad goalkeeper Phumlani Ngobese and army side, Young Buffaloes’ central defender Sikelela Dlamini.  Seven of the called-up players are already in camp with the exception of the Green Mamba striker, Dlamini, who is yet to be released from His Majesty’s Correctional Services, where he is undergoing training as a recruit.

Bulunga, responding to questions from this newspaper on his sudden change of heart, after announcing that he would not be making changes to the team that played in the recently ended COSAFA Cup in Rustenburg, South Africa, said the squad’s tight schedule forced him to reconsider his stance.

“We will be playing three games in three weeks and surely we cannot risk it, as we have to consider a number of aspects like injuries, fatigue and other aspects. We resolved to call-up these players to make sure we have depth.
