MBABANE – Manzini Sundowns coach Mlamuli ‘Sputla’ Zwane has been saluted by recently relegated South Africa’s Absa Premiership side, AmaZulu.

The soft spoken mentor, who donned the famous green and white jersey at AmaZulu between 1989 and 1995, was recently featured in the team’s television programme, ‘Usutu TV’, aired on pay channel, SuperSport 4, on Thursdays. There was a feature chat with the esteemed ‘Usutu’ legend which lasted for several minutes.

The former Moneni Pirates coach was also presented with the team’s jersey while he reflected on his hey days.
Zwane expressed his delight on getting the rare chance.

“I was one of the identified players in the class of 1989-95 and the feature was in recognition of our contribution to the team.
This is a first-of-its-kind and I’m greatly honoured. I’ve played for several teams even locally, but I’m yet to be ‘thanked’ for my contribution at the respective sides.”

AmaZulu crew left South Africa specifically for the date with the respected coach in February this year but the programme was televised a few days ago.
According to information posted on the official AmaZulu website, the show gives the outfit’s supporters the inside track in the ‘Usutu’ camp with player profiles, training sessions, management interviews, competitions and highlights from matches from yesteryear.

Asked if there were lined up exchange programmes or events involving Sundowns and AmaZulu, Zwane, never ruled out  a possibility of friendly matches in the  near future.
