MBABANE – Big Game Parks have promised to offer a top quality mountain bike route during the Nedbank Imvelo MTB on June 6 at Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary.

According to Big Game Parks Local Marketing Coordinator Melusi ‘Zox’ Dlamini, they have spent a lot of hours preparing the route and making sure that it was in good condition ahead of the big day.

“Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary is an outdoor lover’s paradise and it is no surprise that it has become an internationally recognised adventure venue.
“The scenic beauty, the tolerant animals and the relaxed atmosphere are all very inviting. We have invested many hours in course development and now offer top quality mountain biking routes,” he said.

Dlamini said the Nyonyane Mountain, Mlilwane North and the Usuthu Forest, combined, ensured that top cyclists from the region were adequately catered for from a technical angle.  He said the classic course (64km) was tough and was rated among the top courses in Southern Africa due to the incredibly beautiful and constantly changing scenery, high level of technicality and the carefully designed interchanging of single track and dirt road.  This event climbs five mountains.

“The Challenge and team event (35km) is the perfect training ride for those who aspire to the Classic, or a great ride for the less fanatic.
“Some technical areas provide an introduction to true mountain biking, and one challenging hill will spread the race,” he said.

“Mlilwane is a family-focused sanctuary and the family event (22km) is designed for fun.  This course is a gentle introduction to mountain biking as a sport with a bumpy single track, gentle slopes and adventurous river crossings, quite similar to the 12km Hoglet which is best suited for children,” he said.
