I MAY LEAVE ’LANDERS - CAPTAIN ‘CHOCCO’
MBABANE – In what is a swerving twist, Mbabane Highlanders stalwart Xolani ‘Chocco’ Sibandze has made a startling revelation that he may leave the team, barely a day after they had committed to building him a house.
He has been a loyal servant but his ambitions might just see him leave Mbabane Highlanders.
The beloved ‘Bull’ winger and captain said if a move would be best for his life and career he would have no doubt in leaving.
The player, who was recently awarded the first ever PLS Chairman’s Award at the MTN Premier League prize presentation, and on Sunday was honoured by his team with the promise to build him a two-bedroom house, all this to show appreciation for his loyal service and excellence in leading the team for the past two seasons, told this publication, in an exclusive interview, that life might just see him take another direction.
The reasons he cited were that he had received interest from certain teams in South Africa, especially after his showing at the COSAFA Cup.
He refused to disclose the names of the SA teams but mentioned that some were in the PSL while others were playing in the National First Division.
“I have received interest from various teams in South Africa and locally but I cannot disclose the names for now because there has been nothing concrete. I am weighing my options at the moment but I cannot hide the fact that I may leave Highlanders. I must state that I am, however, still contracted to the team, so leaving them will have to be a great career move for me, especially one that guarantees a better life for me. If I am to leave it would have to be for an offer that would be better than what I get at Highlanders.”
