MBABANE – Disappointment was written all over the faces of both Mbabane Highlanders and Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) representatives following yet another postponement of the derby mayhem appeal case.

The eagerly anticipated hearing was a non-starter yesterday, as the Appeals Board headed by attorney Lucky Howe failed to form a quorum.
The National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) Appeals Board is expected to deliver its ruling on the matter that has dragged for over four months now.

PLS Chief Executive Officer (CEO) John Mazibuko said his office was anxious to get the matter dealt with once and for all, so that they know their next move.

concluded

“Obviously, everyone associated with football, and not just the parties involved here, want to see this matter being concluded once and for all. It has dragged for some time and it does put the office in a somewhat tight spot as far as the league race is concerned.

“We are, however, hopeful that Appeals Board will conclude the matter soonest more especially because the league competition is now at a very crucial stage where some of the games, especially those competing for the trophy and those striving to avoid relegation, should be played at the same times. We are doing everything as well to ensure we have a smooth title-run,” he said.

embarrassingly

The first derby in over a year ended embarrassingly when it was called off prematurely by referee Mbongiseni Fakudze after violence erupted. At the time of the game’s abandonment, Swallows were enjoying what appeared to be an unassailable 4-1 lead with more or less seven minutes of regulation time remaining.
