LOBAMBA – Did referee Mbongiseni Fakudze miss the incident where Malanti Chiefs’ Sabelo Hlatshwako elbowed Manzini Wanderers youngster Mfundo Mathabela on Sunday?

The former Young Buffaloes striker-turned-midfielder controlled a rolling pass under siege from the tough tackling midfielder when he appeared to stretch his elbow towards the Weslians player’s mouth.
The incident went unpunished, but Mathabela was left holding his mouth in pain.

In other countries, incidents of this nature irk the ire of review committees who have the power to mete belated punishment to offenders. It is classified as violent conduct. But Hlatshwako is lucky that in the country there is no review committee which deals with such incidents, as there is no video evidence to refer to.

In England, Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey was given a four-match ban after being caught by the review committee elbowing Liverpool’s Emre Can in a Barclays Premiership game.
