LOBAMBA – While it was not one of those lively matches the PLS Reserve League is now renowned for, it was still worth watching as Mbabane Swallows marched over Red Lions to win 5-2 yesterday.

In the opening 15 minutes, it looked as if Swallows had finally found their match on the day, as Lions started brilliantly with some exquisite one-touch passing football, it was no surprise when they were ahead in the 27th minute, as their forward Mcebo Dlamini located the back of the net.

However, little did they know that this exciting Swallows team was always going to rise to the occasion – in fact by this time, both sides had settled into the game such that Swallows responded quickly when they levelled matters three minutes later with a well taken close range goal by impressive defender Sifiso Vilakati.

With Swallows now getting all the chances at goal, exciting winger Wandile Mavimbela was on target, just before the break as he toed in an in-swinging free kick by Sifiso from the right flank and the teams went into the breather with Lions now behind.

The second half proved a better one to watch as Swallows took full control of things, each time they went forward the fans would love the movement of the players on and off the ball and the sleek passing combined with beautiful skill was too much for the opposition.

Brace hero on the day Martins Terrence scored his first goal of the game in the 62nd, as he side-footed into the near post a Wandile low cross from the right wing before he completed his brace 14 minutes later, following a nice exchange of passes between him, youngest player in the league Banele Shongwe who had come off the bench to thrill with skill.

Before Martins completed his brace, midfielder Manqoba Mabuza had already made it 4-1, with one of the finest finishes seen in this league in the 62nd minute, much to the amusement of the handful crowd that witnessed the Reserve League games.
