EZULWINI – Cycling sensation Sihawu Dlamini has maintained his cutting edge on the bushy and rocky terrain to convincingly win the 60km Essential Hardware Ezulwini Mountain Bike (MTB) Classic.

The 26-year-old who had a phenomenal 2014 season outfoxed seasoned cyclists to dethrone inaugural winner, Sifiso Mhlanga, in 03:33:30 hours at Mantenga Falls outside Ezulwini yesterday. The latter was relegated to the second spot in 3:39:40 seconds.

Dlamini who was a champion in the 30km event last year conceded that the championship never came on a silver platter.
“There was a lot of climbing and it proved to be a serious challenge. It was a good race and the route wasn’t bad.”
Mhlanga, 18, who is also a force to be reckoned with in the fast growing sport, said he fell four times, something which denied him from defending his title.

“It wasn’t tough overall but cycling on the rocky single trails proved a hard nut to crack.
It’s no use crying over spilt milk. I will try to do better next year.”

The event was coupled with a 35km event won by the fast improving Lungelo Mlangeni in 2:21:35 hours.  He was fresh from winning a silver medal in the 60km event in Nhlangano last month.
