REGIONAL JUDO CHAMPS START ON A HIGH NOTE

MANZINI – The Southern African Judo Confederation (SAJC) Regional Championships started on a high note yesterday at Mavuso Sports Centre.


Over 100 judokas from the Southern African Development Countries (SADC) turned up and sweated it out for the medals.


The countries taking part in the event are; Swaziland (hosts), South Africa, Mozambique, Botswana and Zambia.
The contest started with the fight of the cadets in the early hours of the morning with the seniors set to compete later in the afternoon.

The seniors will compete their competition today with the first fight as early as 9am.
Present during the start of the championships was the acting Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Maswazi Shongwe and Swaziland National Sports and Recreation Council (SNSRC) CEO Dairus Dlomo.


The Swaziland Judo Federations (SJF) President Tertius Esterhuizen said yesterday they were due to finish late in the evening.
“We welcome all the artists and the officials who are present here. We are confident that all will go according to plans and we will witness the best games ever,” he said.
