MBABANE – Giants and SwaziBank Cup finalists Manzini Wanderers have been charged and face up to E260 000 in fines.

While the club had expected a fine of up to E33 000 for the fans’ wild behavior during their semi-final clash with Manzini Sundowns last Sunday at the Somhlolo National Stadium, the SwaziBank Cup’s Management Committee (MC) has summarily fined them E12 000.

This, however, is the least of their problems as they still have to appear before the National NFAS’ Disciplinary Committee on Tuesday afternoon on three counts preferred against them which if maximum fines are put forth amount to E120 000.

Furthermore, on the same date, five of their players who were cited by referee Thulani Sibandze for assaulting and threatening to do so by their conduct on the day, will also appear at 5.30pm before the DC.

These players are right back Sicelo ‘Junior’ Simelane, goalkeeper Sandile ‘Nkomishi’ Ginindza, central defender Gcina ‘Kwere’ Mazibuko, midfielder Sandile ‘Theo’ Motsa and striker Sidumo Shongwe. All five but ‘Junior’ have been charged with one count being the contravention of Article 8(1)(i)(c) of the tournament’s Rules and Regulations in that they threatened by their conduct or words to assault Sibandze and face a minimum fine of E5 500 and a maximum of E10 000.

Junior, on the other hand, also has one count for the contravention of Article 8(1) (ii) (d) in that on March 22, last Sunday he assaulted the referee by pushing him and that is deemed as violent or unsporting behavior with a minimum fine of E10 000 and a maximum of E100 000.

Wanderers as a club’s three counts are as follows; In Count 1 they are charged for contravening Article 8(1) (i) (d) in that their player Junior assaulted the referee by aggressively pushing him and face a minimum fine of E10 000 and a maximum of E100 000.
