MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers have appointed former MC Chairman Bheki Gamedze as the club’s new manager.

Gamedze, who last served at the club in the 2009 season, led the club to the final of the SwaziBank Cup and that same year they finished third in the MTN League log.

A source close to the club MC disclosed that Gamedze was recommended alongside former Manager Malume Khumalo by the Council of Elders, chaired by Sipho Ntshalintshali after last week Wednesday’s meeting with team Patron Inkhosikati LaMbikiza. “Gamedze was finally approved as the team manager and is expected to work with General Manager Pat Mahlalela, who should introduce him to the players soon,” the source said.

Ntshalintshali confirmed the appointment of Gamedze to the position of Team Manager, and said what was left was for him to be officially introduced to the players and technical bench headed by Gcina ‘Magiyane’ Dlamini.

“The Elders are working around the clock to end the dispute among the warring factions in the team. And we have since taken the responsibility of overseeing the running of the club alongside the MC led by Pat Mahlalela. The only change we have made is the addition of Bheki Gamedze as Manager. He has the needed experience to execute the job and has a good track record,” he said.

Gamedze, when contacted last night, said nothing had been communicated to him yet regarding the matter. “Maybe they are still coming. I am at my workstation now, and again I believe that in such positions, one has to be officially introduced,” he said without elaborating.

Meanwhile, Ntshalintshali has appealed for peace and unity among the club’s faithful who are currently embroiled in a serious internal squabble.
