MBABANE – The derby mayhem case is far from over after the Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) filed its appeal.

The protracted case involving two of the country’s heavyweights in bitter rivals Mbabane Swallows and Mbabane Highlanders is set for another marathon run in the chambers of the country’s football following the organisation’s decision to appeal against the Disciplinary Committee (DC) verdict.

PLS Chief Executive Officer (CEO) John Mazibuko confirmed the latest development yesterday. Mazibuko disclosed that they sought legal opinion before taking the decision. “We are currently waiting for a directive from the Football Association on the logistics of the matter like when it will be heard and the proceedings.

“It is now no longer in our hands and the right people to shed light would be the FA, otherwise as an organisation we have done our part. We sought legal opinion on the issue and we were advised to go ahead, as we feel we have a solid case that needs to be heard,” he said.

The National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) Acting CEO, Futhi Dlamini confirmed that her office received the PLS’s appeal but could not say when the matter will be heard.

“We are waiting for a written verdict from the Disciplinary Committee, which tried the case. They only furnished us with their ruling, which is shallow and until we get the detailed verdict we cannot say when the matter will be heard,” she said.
