PIGG’S PEAK – Armed and ready to kill, Green Mamba shot down Hhohho Super League side Mvuma Hotspurs yesterday away at Rocklands stadium, winning 3-1 to march to the last-16 round of the SwaziBank Cup.

Having enjoyed a comfortable 2-0 lead going to the break, they were put under pressure for the last 30 minutes of the exciting encounter as the minnows pushed them hard, especially after getting one back in the 60th, but Green Mamba withstood the pressure and finally killed the game off through second half substitute Civil Matsebula, who slotted from the spot with five minutes of injury time remaining.

Midfielder Muzi ‘Mzo’ Dlamini opened the floodgates with a stinging 25 yards effort that beat stretched goalkeeper Linda Sukati hands down.
With the opposition not threatening them as they showed respect, the second goal was always to come, and come it did with one minute remaining before the break as Phinda ‘Phindrix’ Dlamini was set up by debutant Gcinizwi  ‘Tsangarai’ Hlophe’s good pass after a well-worked move on the left.

He connected with the ball at 12 yards to send his low shot to the bottom right corner, 2-0.
From the break, Mvuma sat back for five minutes then they took control of the game, showed Green Mamba no respect and with the crowd urging them on, they found inspiration through Simanga Ndzinisa’s scorcher from 12 yards out.

Green Mamba went down to 10 men when, with 15 minutes remaining, defender Banele ‘Makonose’ Dlamini was forced to sit out the game by a nasty head injury while his team had exhausted its substitute options.

But Mvuma they pushed for an equaliser, they were meant to pay at the back as Civil was tripped inside the box having sprung ahead of the defence to get the ball.
