LEOPARD AMBUSH AMAZULU

Confederations Cup-bound Royal Leopard will get a taste of what to expect next month during their preliminary round game against South Africa’s champions Mamelodi Sundowns when they host Amazulu this evening.

The international preparatory game will be played at Somhlolo National Stadium starting at 6pm. Amazulu may be on the bottom of the ABSA Premiership but rest assured, they will stretch the locals to the limit.

It will be an energy sapping and challenging battle for the police outfit under the guidance of Sifiso ‘Nuro’ Ntibane.  There is no doubt about that. It will, however, give them a clear picture of what to expect when they host the money-spinning Mamelodi Sundowns in about two weeks’ time.
There is no doubt that the Leopard mean machine can flatten any opposition in front of it, including the best South African football has to offer.

With all due respect to the visitors, they are not among the best in their country.  This should give the Leopard players the belief that they can do it. In goalkeeper Mphikeleli Dlamini, Leopard have one of the most acrobatic shot stoppers in the league.

In central defender Sifiso ‘Sushi’ Nkambule, the police outfit has arguably the country’s best central defender at the moment and in goal pocher Barry Steenkamp, Leopard have a terrific marksman, while in Menzi Sithole, they have an upcoming Trojan worker, ready to fill the void left by the retired Mxolisi ‘Stopper’ Mthethwa. It is not in doubt that Leopard has a team busting at seams with talent.

The likes of experienced and overlapping right back Dennis ‘Denmark’ Fakudze, midfield maestro Mxolisi ‘General’ Lukhele, hard running Muzi ‘Mzoro’ Dlamini and the twinkle toed Mduduzi ‘Juries’ Gama are all capable of serving thin slices of humble pie to the visitors.
