BASKETBALL TOURNEY KICKS OFF IN STYLE

MBABANE – The beat literally went on as the three-day basketball tournament themed ‘The Beat Goes On’ kicked off on Friday at the Coronation Park in Mbabane.


The fun continued yesterday as the clubs tore each other apart in what was a high quality performance as the fight to make this afternoon’s final intensified.
On Friday evening Imbumbe lost 23-29 to Phoenix (Waterford) and Jazz beat Phoenix 48-4.


The tournament hosted by Mbabane Jazz is the second edition. Jazz, who started the tournament on  high note, are set to defend the title as by yesterday they had won all their matches.

The tournament Secretary Jordy Shiba said they were impressed by the standard of play showed by the teams. He invited people to come in their numbers for the semi-finals and finals slated for today.
“The finals semi-finals will start at 1pm as we expect to conclude the round robin  stage early in the morning tomorrow (today).

The teams showed that they wanted to play the sport. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all 6htose who supported us,” he said.
The winners will pocket E1 000 with the runners up getting E500.
