WE HAVE PLAN TO DEAL WITH ACCIDENT – ZESCO UTD COACH

MBABANE – Zesco United coach George Lwandamina feels they have enough cover to deal with Mbabane Swallows in the absence of influential defender Nyambe Mulenga.

The Zambia national team defender fractured his leg during a fatal car accident that left his team’s bus driver dead. The 51-year-old Lwandamina, interviewed from Zambia yesterday, told this publication that his team will not be affected by Mulenga’s absence.

“We may miss him as an individual but not as a player on the field because we have enough cover in that department. The team has so many defenders and I am positive that whosoever we decide to give a run will do the job that is required.

“We are at the level where we cannot allow the absence of one or two players to derail the whole team. We have enough cover and we will do the job,” said the former Zambia’s Red Arrows coach.
Lwandamina was in charge of Arrows when the Zambian side was eliminated by Royal Leopard in the preliminary stage of the competition about four seasons ago.

He said they would not go out of their way to spy on Swallows but would instead rely on their gut feeling.
“I do not believe it is important in football to know one’s opponents. We will rely on our own strength not the opposition’s. We will plan according to our own style and we will not allow ourselves to be fooled by how our opponents play,” he said.

He was predictably coy when asked if his side will be more cautious in the first leg or will go for the kill from the onset.
“There is nothing like being cautious in football. We will attack as a team and when we lose the ball, we will defend as a unit once again. Whether we are away from home or not, that is exactly how we play our game and we are not about to change,” he said.
