LOBAMBA – After a demolishing 4-1 defeat and a goalless draw in their last two MTN Premier League games, Mbabane Highlanders’ coach Ernest Mavuso described the team’s 2-0 victory over Moneni Pirates as just the perfect gift for the entire Nkunz’emnyama family.

“We had not won our last two games and also didn’t play as well as we would have liked but after this win, I’m certain it is a good Christmas gift for the Highlanders family. It wasn’t an easy game but I’m grateful we won it,” he said.
He said every team would have liked to end the year on a high, especially for their fans and directorship, which is why beating Pirates for him was an honour on the day.

impressed

“Both teams worked very hard but I’m happy we ended up the winning side and I’m impressed with the way we managed as I had changed my line-up, benching Mbaya to give the starting place to Fanelo who did very well on the day,” he said.
He also praised all his players and picked midfielder Ntandoyenziwe Thusi as a future gem if he can keep his head up and focus – he was one for the future! His Pirates counterpart Happy ‘Messiah’ Simfukwe said he also felt the match was wonderful.

“It was very god game, good football from both sides but obviously we didn’t use the chances we got, especially in the first half where I thought we were in control, but yes, Highlanders managed to score goals and won as we couldn’t,” he said.

He said overall, the game was worth its salt and both sides displayed their best football on the day only one managed to put the ball behind the net.
