MBABANE – Fast improving Manzini Athletics Club has taken a giant step towards professionalism by establishing a centre.

The club, known for producing top athletes that include the country’s fastest man, Sibusiso ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa, was allocated land at Ngculwini outside Manzini, to put in place the structure, which is already under construction. Team founder and coach, Muzi Mabuza, said his office got about E143 000 from the Germany Embassy in October to spearhead the project.

“This is a start of bigger things to come. The first building will act as administration offices but we’re planning to build a sports centre in the future.
We welcome any form of assistance as we want to level the sports field as well.”
Mabuza said even the community would also use the facility.

Mabuza got to network with the Germans when he was studying Athletics Coaching in that country over six years ago. He immediately established the club on his return in 2008.  African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region V Under-20 Youth Games triple gold medallist, Mcebo Dludlu, is also under the renowned club.
