MBABANE – While this is a social tournament aimed at sensitising the public about epilepsy, a neurological disorder marked by sudden recurrent episodes of sensory disturbance, loss of consciousness, or convulsions, associated with abnormal electrical activity in the brain, no derby fixture in the world is ever a friendly match.

The Times XI will this morning be all out avenge their last three failures against their print media counterparts, who are the defending champions of the tournament. Skilful winger Martin ‘Tinas’ Dlamini and attacking midfielder Dumsani ‘DU’ Ntiwane, call him ‘Larger than Life’ if you like, will lead the Times XI in this mission with their attacking forays and skill to add some flair into the game.

In the middle of the park, Linda ‘Judge’ Jele, Thabiso Dlamini and Chris ‘Fabregas’ Dlamini will do the spadework to get the right balls forward whereby Phinda ‘Phindrix’ Mavuso while at goal there will be options as the team is in full strength and Mduduzi Malinga will lead the defence. There will be three games to mark the grand opening of the league with Swazi TV taking on Channel S while SBIS take on VOC. May the best team win!

Sports & Leisure

When people are busy and active they are less likely to have seizures. When choosing a sport or leisure activity, give some consideration to your type of epilepsy and your degree of seizure control. Some activities involve a greater risk than others but with appropriate safety precautions most risks can be minimized.

Team and contact sports

Your epilepsy should not stop you from playing team and contact sports unless the epilepsy was caused by serious head injury.
