MBABANE – Red and white glamour giants Mbabane Swallows now stand to be fined at least E50 000 after being found guilty of two misconduct charges yesterday.

Swallows were charged with contravening article 7 1 (a) in that their supporters invaded the pitch when celebrating Swallows’ third goal scored by Sandile Hlatjwako during the eventually abandoned derby clash against rivals Mbabane Highlanders.
For this count, the Mbabane giants face a fine of E15 000.

In count two, the Mbabane giants were also found guilty after their marshals threatened a Highlanders team doctor, who was passing next to the Swallows bench during the course of the game.

Article 7 1 (b) of the tournament’s rules and regulations frowns upon such conduct.
“Threatening by conduct or words to assault or attempt to assault a referee, PLS official, player, club official, marshal, supporter, fan, spectator – a fine of not less than E10 000 by the DC.

“Failure to control fan(s) supporter(s) official(s), marshal(s) – attracts a fine of not less than E25 000 by the DC,” article 7 1 (g) of the MTN League Rules and Regulations states.

The DC, which was chaired by Melusi Lukhele, is however, yet to issue sentencing on the matter. The team was advised to collect the written verdict and judgment from the Premier League of Swaziland (PLS).
