MBABANE – Red Lions have already embarked on a move to hire a new permanent head coach to replace the redeployed Mlamuli ‘Sputla’ Zwane.

The team has already interviewed six candidates for the position, according to Director Didibhuku Thwala. And among them is former Manzini Wanderers coach Kenny Ndlazi who has been in the country since Sunday.

“We have engaged a number of coaches; three locals and foreigners for the position. Ndlazi is one of those but we are yet to make a decision on who finally takes over. We are seeking a highly qualified coach with a CAF A Licence because we have a vision of taking the club forward,” Thwala said.  Ndlazi confirmed meeting Thwala and the club MC Chairman Muzi Zubuko on the matter, but was quick to state that he was yet to accept the offer. “I am going home and I hope to finally make a decision upon weighing other options there. The truth is that Red Lions are a good team with big ambitions. They have scored more goals so it means they have to sort out a few departments,” he said.

Meanwhile, the club, which faces Green Mamba on Friday, will be led by Zwelibanzi ‘Botsotso’ Khoza until a new coach arrives. Khoza was officially confirmed by the team’s Managing Director Thwala yesterday when asked if they would be having a new head coach ahead of the weekend clash.

“We have given the task to ‘Botsotso’ to lead the team against Green Mamba and we believe as someone we have had for some time, he will manage as we continue with our assessments including him,” Thwala said.

He said they were currently engaged in a lot of work to try and improve the team and make it ready for Vision 2022.
