MBABANE – The Correctional Services Tennis Club is eager to win the Swaziland Building Society (SBS) Tennis League.

They are perched at the summit of the log with nine points after three games. The team, led by Masiza Ntshangase, is in its second season since affiliating with the Swaziland National Tennis Association (SNTA).

Second in the log are Lobamba who also have nine points after three games and Police College, who beat New Stars 12-0 on Saturday, are third. Correctional Services captain Allen Mathonsi said they were looking at winning all their remaining games.

“Our slogan is we give all to get all. We want to maintain the position that we are in and make sure we end the league still perched at the top. Last year we lost to Recreation as we finished second and this year we are confident that we will win the league. We take each game as it comes,” he said. Some of the Correctional Services players are Mathonsi, Masiza Ntshangase, Nompendulo Ntshangase, Tibusiso Ntshangase, Swazi Hlandze, Takitsi Khumalo, Thandolwethu Siwela, David Nkambule and Phinda Malinga, among others.

Mathonsi said they would continue to work hard. He said the juniors would continue to train as schools were closed. Mathonsi is also expected to lead the junior’s squad that will be representing the country in the Southern Africa Tennis Junior Championships to be held in Gaborone, Botswana from January 9 to 17.
