MBABANE – Cabinet has distanced itself from the issue of the minister who set Private Investigators on a judicial officer who was found in bed with Matsanjeni North Member of Parliament Phila Buthelezi.

Assistant Master of the High Court Cebile Ngwenya and Buthelezi were found by a team from Zwemart Private Investigators on Monday last week in a compromising position inside the former’s house. The private investigators (PIs) were acting on an instruction from a Cabinet minister. Percy Simelane, Government Spokesperson yesterday said the minister who commissioned the investigation was ‘not’ representing Cabinet. Simelane, in a text message, said the hiring of private investigators does not form part of official Cabinet duties or mandate.

“Hiring of private investigators does not form part of Cabinet official duties / mandate. If there is a minister who has done it, he was NOT representing Cabinet,” Simelane said.

Ngwenya recently appeared before the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) after it had been alleged that she exposed the Judiciary in that she did not comply with a directive issued by Master of the High Court Phumzile Masilela. Ngwenya’s defiance is said to have led to a series of events.
On the other hand, MP Buthelezi has been vocal in Parliament on the issues of the estate policy and he recently called upon his colleagues to fire Minister of Justice Sibusiso Shongwe through a vote of no confidence.
