MBABANE – A dagga warehouse at Hawane was yesterday discovered by members of the Royal Swaziland Police and it is suspected that it was occupied by the white man who was killed and his body mutilated recently.

The warehouse is situated along the Pigg’s Peak-Mbabane road, a few kilometers from the Hawane Dam.
Within the homestead where the dagga warehouse is situated, there is a two-bedroom house which was reportedly once occupied by the white man whose body was last week found mutilated at Motshane. The police are, however, still investigating the matter as this information was relayed to them by one of the residents found next to the scene of crime.

The police officers, who consisted mostly of those from the Drug Unit, had to break in to gain entry as the warehouse was locked and there was no one in the homestead. The police discovered that the one room warehouse had scattered equipment all over it, including the large containers where the dagga was stored as well as smaller ones and a vacuum sealer to package the ready-for-sale drug.

Upon gaining entry, the law enforcers discovered bags containing dagga and equipment used to compress and weigh the habit forming drug.
The dagga was found in different containers with some of it neatly wrapped and seemingly ready for the market.  Inside the warehouse there was also fertiliser which the police said they suspected was being used during cultivation of the dagga. The police were also seen taking pictures of all the items that were found in the two bedroom house and the dagga warehouse. One of them was seen taking measurement from different angles of the house.
The homestead where the warehouse is situated is owned by a family of a white man who is also reported to have died a long time ago.
A man who claimed to be responsible for the homestead where the dagga was found informed the police that it was being rented out to different people. He told the police that he was not aware that the occupants were dagga dealers.

“I was not aware that they were dealing in the sale of dagga and I was surprised to see the police conducting a search. The houses were owned by a white man who died a long time ago and I was mandated by his wife to be the overseer,” he stated. He further disclosed that the current tenants were known to him but he was not aware that they were drug pushers.

“The police will be the ones who will ascertain what was going on in this house. I am surprised that such activity (sale of dagga) was conducted here,” he stated. The dagga and the equipment found therein were seized by the police and by the time our news team left, there was no arrest that had been made.
Also, police did not wish to reveal the identity of the white man who was found dead in a wetland last Saturday at around 2pm.
The lifeless naked body of the white man was discovered by a herd boy who was driving cattle. He is said to have raised an alarm after stumbling on the body, which was already in a decomposed state. The man was found with some of his private parts missing.
The value of the total dagga found could not be ascertained at the time of compiling this report.
