PASTOR DONATES HOUSE TO EVICTED NOKWANE GOGO
MANZINI – The Throne of Grace Ministries’ founder Pastor Themba Maseko has donated a house to one of the evicted Nokwane squatters. In fact, the pastor has also offered another affected family temporary accommodation.
This, after government demolished over 10 homesteads at Nokwane to give way to the under construction Bio-Technology Park.
Maseko, who is a police officer by profession, said he was willing to provide accommodation to at least two of the affected families. He said one family would be privileged to get permanent accommodation at his home at Sikhuphe as he has an unused one-room house.
He further said the other family would be temporarily accommodated in a structure next to his church.
He explained that the structure was meant to accommodate a permanent pastor of the church who is yet to be appointed.
“I have accommodation that could house at least two of the families who were evicted from Nokwane. I would prefer that these facilities benefit the most needy families.
“One of the families that I have identified is that of gogo Janet Masina because she clearly stated that she did not have a place to stay with her son. I can offer her the house at my home and organise a place for her son where he can live while I help him get a piece of land from the Umphakatsi to build a home where he could live independently as an adult,” the pastor said.
He said he was also constructing a rondavel and once it was finished, he could move Masina into it.
Maseko said he needs help to identify the second needy family that would use the two-room house at his church at Mliba. He said the house could accommodate a family of four as it was big.

He further said even though he was aware of the situation the families were facing, especially with regard to food, the only thing he could assure them was accommodation. “We are all aware of their situation, especially with food among other things, but it will be hard for me to promise that I will provide them with everything they need. I can assure them with accommodation and that they will not be ill-treated by anyone where I am taking them,” Maseko said.
The pastor said he would prefer that even the second family would have an elderly as opposed to youngsters. He said he wanted the families to live their lives and not give him trouble.
Maseko said another thing that made him offer accommodation to some of the families was that he wanted to relieve the Lutheran church of the burden of caring for all of them.
Maseko said as a man of God, he believed in helping other people as the Bible says.
Meanwhile, the Council of Swaziland Churches (CSC) has commended Maseko for his offer.
CSC Chairperson Bishop Absalom Mnisi thanked the pastor for the kind gesture and said they would help him by identifying the needy family of no more than four people and that suits the criterion of a family he wants to assist.
“The families are desperate and we would like to thank Pastor Themba Maseko for the kind of gesture. We really need people like him. We would also like to assure him that we will support him in everything he needs along the way because we are aware of how desperate the families are,” Mnisi said.
