SWAZI BISHOP LOSES MEMBER IN NIGERIA CHURCH COLLAPSE
MANZINI – A member of the New Covenant of Jesus Christ Ministries, a church owned by Bishop Enoch Maseko, died in TB Joshua’s synagogue.
The bishop said 15 members of his church, who were in Nigeria during the incident, were still missing. However, the congergants were from the SA branch of Maseko’s Church, situated at KaMhlushwa.
TB Joshua is the world acclaimed Overseer of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) based in Ekotu Egbe, Lagos, Nigeria.
Maseko mentioned that a number of Christians from his church often travelled to the SCOAN located in Nigeria and this particular trip was not different. “Some members of my church from the KaMhlushwa branch were at the church in Nigeria when the building collapsed. I have received a report that one has been confirmed dead while the other 15 congregants’ whereabouts remain unknown,” he said.
Maseko said the church had been informed that the rescue mission team was still sifting through the rubble trying to recover more Christians with the hope that they may still be found alive.
He said the church was still waiting to receive more information on the situation. “I am not certain, however, that there were no Swazis there as other Christians use local agents to attend the services in that country while my members use South African coordinators,” Maseko said.
Two weeks ago, fears that the bishop’s wife may have been detained in Nigeria spread widely due to the ongoing Ebola scare. It was later revealed, in an interview with Mary Maseko, that the disease had not been a threat to the Christians and that they had returned home safely.
Previously, it had been mentioned that there were over 13 000 Christians from all over the world who spent several weeks per trip worshipping at the synagogue in Nigeria and the flights bringing Christians to Nigeria are said to be four or five per day.
