I AM NO LONGER AN ACTIVIST, SAYS RUDD
MBABANE – Attempted murder accused, Rolland Rudd, has said he is no longer a political activist.
Rudd allegedly shot at occupants of a Volvo sedan on April 27, 2012 at a place known as Kadake after a brief argument. At the time of his arrest, it was highly reported that a political activist had been arrested for shooting at soldiers guarding a bridge. Rudd was arrested in June 2012 after police nabbed him for a traffic offence.
Yesterday, he appeared before Judge Bheki Maphalala, where he acknowledged he was previously a political activist.
He said he was no longer an activist. His statement was a topic of discussion outside the courtroom.
One of the women who had attended the court session was heard saying Rudd was no longer a ‘comrade’.
Members of proscribed entities such as the People’s United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO) refer to each other as comrades.
“It’s been over 10 years,”she said as she walked out of court.
