NSOKO – Acting Chief Executive Officer (ceo) of Matata Group of Companies Boniface Mdluli has been dismissed on allegations of professional misconduct bordering on sexual harassment.

Mdluli, who joined the company in 2007, was fired last month after being found guilty of allegedly sexually harassing a female member of staff employed at one of the 22 Matata Group outlets.
This was confirmed by the company’s Chief Executive Officer and nkilongo member of Parliament (MP) Hans Steffen yesterday.

He said Mdluli was no longer employed by the Matata Group of companies.
however, he said the group was still waiting for Mdluli to appeal the dismissal as he had indicated through his attorneys that he intended to appeal.

Steffen said as part of the company’s code of conduct, it was clearly stated that offences of such nature would lead to dismissal.
“Even my father was against offences of such nature and he always stated that all the young women employed by Matata had every right to be protected from such harassment. He also ensured that those in positions of power did not abuse their subordinates through such,” Steffen explained sternly.

According to the group’s head of Human Resources, Doctor Mlotsa, Mdluli was served with his letter of suspension on march 27, 2014 after the allegations against him were reported to management.
“ Formal disciplinary actions were taken against Mdluli and were chaired by a senior attorney in Manzini who found him guilty of the offence,” Mlotsa explained.

Mdluli was dismissed as acting CEO on June 17, 2014 and a few days later he filed a notice to appeal the findings of the disciplinary committee (DC). It was learnt that he had not yet forwarded his reasons on why he felt the finding of the DC were erroneous.
The matter was handled internally by the Matata group and no legal action has been taken by the aggrieved party as yet.

All I can say is there no one who is greater than God. God heard the cries of many a victim that were sabotaged by this man. This is just a tip of the iceberg. He had it coming. Now we pray that God continues to bless the Matata Group by ridding it of more such people that were put in positions. I feel so sorry for his wife and the shame that has been brought to her.
