MBABANE – Letshego Financial Services Chief Executive Officer Mbuso Dlamini has been arrested for rape.
The CEO allegedly had sexual intercourse with a 19-year-old at the Royal Swazi Spa in Ezulwini.

As put in the charge sheet, the CEO and his co-accused Mcolisi ‘Coli’ Dlamini are alleged to have had sexual intercourse with Sihle* without her consent.
These are allegations contained in the charge sheet whose veracity is yet to be tested in a court of law.

“Take further notice of that this rape is accompanied by aggravated circumstances as envisaged by Section 185 bis of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act 67 of 1939 in that the accused did not use a condom thereby putting the complainant at risk of contracting sexually transmitted infections,” reads part of the charge sheet.

It is alleged that the duo wrongfully, unlawfully and with intent, committed the rape on June 1, 2014 while at the Royal Swazi Spar. Both accused were represented by Noel Mabuza of SV Mdladla and Associates in the matter. The matter was before Magistrate Phathaphatha Mdluli.

Their attorney applied that the duo be granted bail, however, Mdluli made it clear that it was not in his jurisdiction to grant bail in such matters.
“I advise you to move a bail application at the High Court because the magistrates court has no jurisdiction to grant bail in such matters,” Mdluli said. The CEO was arrested last Wednesday after the teenager laid a complaint with the police.

He was arrested by the Manzini police for the alleged rape of a mentally challenged teenager. As previously reported, the CEO was in the company of Mcolisi when they convinced the teenager to join them on a trip from Zakhele, where a traditional wedding was held.

The duo took the teenager to the hotel where they are alleged to have enjoyed alcoholic beverages and later booked a room where the alleged rape took place. Information gathered is to the effect that when the CEO was arrested, he requested to be first taken to hospital for medical attention and the police duly complied with his request.
The CEO had first complained of chest pains before requesting that he be taken to hospital.
