MBABANE – Wife of jailed Human Rights Lawyer Thulani Maseko, Tenele, has said her husband looks handsome in prison uniform.

She said she went to visit her husband in one of the undisclosed Correctional facilities and found him in a prison garb.
“I visited him and saw him looking handsome in his prison uniform,” she said.

Declined

She, however, declined to reveal more details of the visit and where Maseko and Bheki Makhubu, Editor of the Nation magazine,  are being kept after they were sentenced on Friday.
Tenele did not shed tears after the sentencing of her husband while Makhubu’s wife Fikile was seen in tears.
The wives had been supporting their husbands throughout the trial after they were arrested about four months ago.

Wrote

The duo was arrested and charged with contempt of court after articles they wrote in the magazine questioning the arrest of Bhantshana Gwebu.
They were sentenced to two years with no fine by Justice Mpendulo Simelane for contempt of court.

The women must be strong for their families and moreso their husband. I know Thulani has a strong political conviction to take him through and I hope our hopeless civic society will rise up from their deep sleep and take the lead to garner support and rouse active citizens to challenge this unjust detention of our fellow compatriots.
