MANZINI - Mduduzi Simelane of Izinceku Zamagawugawu wants to see his popular programme ‘Makhelwane Simbona Ngetento’ being featured on Swazi TV again.

The meaning of the title is: ‘A good neighbour shows it through deeds.’
The show was primarily aimed at assisting disadvantaged members of the community to get help.

Those who benefited before it was canned included people who wished to see long-lost relatives; those who did not have proper shelter, those who needed food and people who did not have money to bury their loved ones.
It was a well-loved show.

The artist, who is famously known as ‘Gawzela’, has since asked government to make possible means of seeing the TV show being brought back.
This was revealed by Dumisani Ndlangamandla, Minister of ICT, during Inzinceku Zamagawugawu’s latest DVD launch.

The launch of the DVD titled, ‘Iyawukwehla Imvula’ was held on Friday night at the Bosco Skill Centre.
Attending were over 2 000 people who braved the cold to watch more than 10 artists, who came to support their fellow singer’.
Some of the artists who performed included South African singer Thobekile, Swaziland’s Frans Dlamini and Faith Khanyile of Glory of the Last Days fame.

Others were Phiwokwakhe, Come to Jesus, Shiba and Travellers and LaZwide Umkhokheli.
The minister, who was the guest of honour, addressed the excited fans, and told them that Simelane had already indicated that he would want to see his show returning to the screens.

The show was stopped about a year ago, when government felt that Simelane was using it to campaign for a seat in Parliament.
Simelane did not participate in the 2013 national elections, though.  Minister Ndlangamandla said because of some of projects facilitated by the birth of the show, he would assist Simelane in this endeavour.

“His Majesty’s government supports programmes that have a Christian outlook,” he said.
“I would like to thank you all for coming to this launch. We are indeed impressed when we see so many people coming together with the intention of praising God,” he said.

The minister said he was aware of Simelane’s request and would definitely take the matter to the relevant structures for discussions.
“He has asked that government should consider bringing the programme back. I should say I will make sure that the request is forwarded to the right channels,” he said.

As soon as he said this, Simelane smiled and clapped hands while gospel music lovers also screamed and clapped hands showing their excitement after what the minister had said.
The show lasted until 6am as artists gave their best, leaving gospel music lovers wanting more.
