MPS APPROVE 4.6% WATER TARIFF HIKE
LOBAMBA – Members of Parliament have finally approved the 4.6 per cent water tariff hike proposed by the Swaziland Water Services Corporation (SWSC).
The MPs unanimously agreed that SWSC needed the increase in order to continue providing excellent services to the public.
The tariff hike had previously been rejected by the MPs following the fact that the Portfolio Committee for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy, chaired by Matsanjeni North MP Phila Buthelezi, had not consulted consumers and other stakeholders.
Buthelezi thanked the MPs for adopting the report.
It has not yet been ascertained when the new tariff will be implemented.
