KONTSHINGILA – Police were called to contain rowdy youths at KoNtshingila yesterday.

About 40 members of the youth invaded acting KoNtshingila Chief Gelane Zwane’s royal kraal yesterday and demanded that everyone vacate the place, including Zwane. The royal kraal is situated at KaGwegwe.

The youth from KaGodloza arrived at the royal kraal in the morning, and started shouting.
Everyone resident at the royal kraal was given an ultimatum to leave the place by the end of the day yesterday, and the youth said failure to oblige would be visited by serious consequences. The youth had promised that they would return to the royal kraal last night to see if their directive had been adhered to.

The acting chief was, however, not present when the youth arrived, and instead, the message was left with some men who were found at the royal kraal.
This was confirmed by a leader of the youth, who preferred to talk under strict anonymity. The incident occurred yesterday, at around 7.30am.
Police officers were called by the people at the umphakatsi, in fear that something bad might happen to them. The officers arrived in two police vans and drove the rowdy youth away.  No injuries or arrests had been reported at the time of going to press.

Mfeneziyamthoba Magagula, Headman at the royal kraal, confirmed the incident. He said they called the police after the youth invasion. Magagula told this publication that the youth arrived in vans, which they parked at a distance from the umphakatsi before walking towards the main gate.
“Upon arrival, they started shouting that everyone, including the acting chief, should leave the royal kraal. They were calling the names of all the people they want out of the royal kraal,” he said. Assistant Superintendent Khulani Mamba, Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, also confirmed the incident.

He said police officers were sent to the scene to maintain peace and order.
Acting Ludzidzini Governor Timothy Velabo Mtetwa confirmed that the people of KoNtshingila had been summoned to Ludzidzini.

“Well I am not aware of what transpired at KoNtshingila. All I know is that the elders had summoned the people of KoNtshingila for talks,” he said.Mtetwa has assured the nation that the issue of KoNtshingila was being addressed at the right forum.
