KOMBI DRIVER, WOMAN KILLED AT PINE VALLEY

MBABANE – A kombi driver and a passenger died in an accident at Pine Valley after the kombi they were travelling in overturned.
The kombi was from Mbabane, headed for Mbuluzi at about 9pm on Monday.


It could not be ascertained as to what might have caused the accident at the time of compiling this report.
However, police investigation’s revealed that the kombi was overloaded. Police Deputy Public Relations Officer (PRO) Assistant Superintendent Khulani Mamba confirmed the accident.


Mamba said their investigations so far, proved that the there were 17 passengers in the kombi.
“There were two people who died on the spot; a 29-year-old man who was the driver of the kombi and a 28-year-old woman who was a passenger. Police are still investigating what might have caused the accident,” said Mamba.


Hospital


He said the two died on the spot while the other passengers were rushed to the Mbabane Government Hospital where they were treated and discharged while others were admitted.
The Deputy PRO said the driver lost control of the kombi before it overturned.
Mamba said the names of the deceased cannot be revealed for now as their next of kin had not yet been informed.


He said there was no one they could charge for the accident because the driver of the kombi had died.


Secretary General of the Swaziland Commercial Amadoda Road Transportation Council Duma Msibi also sympathised with the bereaved families. Msibi said this was an unfortunate incident and unexpected.


“I sympathise with the families as well as the kombi owner for such a sad incident. The passengers are our customers and we are sorry for what has happened,” said Msibi.
