MBABANE – Following the spate of arson attacks, which targeted some of the OK Foods stores, the outlet has shown resilience by opening its ninth branch at Msunduza, Mbabane.

The branches include OK Foods at Checkers, Msunduza, Ezulwini, Luyengo, Kwaluseni, Mhlaleni, Logoba, Manzini and Ngwane Park.
Lincoln Motsa, who is the franchise Director in the country, stated that the torching of their properties at the height of the unrest had scared the management as they least expected such. Motsa said he did not think emaSwati could let down the businesses that helped them. However, he said they picked themselves up to focus on the business strategy.

This strategy, he said, was to take their business out of the city centres to occupy the peri-urban and semi-urban areas. Motsa said they targeted densely populated areas, hence Msunduza was considered a suitable place. “We are saying, let us bring the services to the people.” I & D Investment will rent out the shopping complex premises to OK Foods. A representative of I&D, Eddie Abner, promised that they would render their best support to the business and trusted that the community would also support it.

Furthermore, he said they were pleased that when hiring, the store considered the residents of the area as priority. Abner assured that the location was safe and that the people of Msunduza were the ones who saw the need for the business to come to the area. Meanwhile, OK Foods Divisional Operations Manager Bevan Pfiel said the business was a wonderful adventure for the community as the service offered was different.
Country General Manager Wilhelm Dekoker stated that the shop belonged to the community.
