NHLANGANO – The assassinated police officer’s siblings have cursed the killer.

This was during the morning funeral service held at Nhlangano Extension 4 yesterday. This is the police officer, Tigezile Shongwe nee Magongo, who was shot inside the boundaries of her home at Extension 4 in Nhlangano while coming from work after 8pm. The siblings had a written message to the murderers which was read by one of their children as they were overwhelmed with emotions. The siblings are Gabsile, Tenele and Thulasizwe Magongo.
The message stated that the assassin should rejoice for a while but their day was coming. They stated that they were not expecting that their sister would be killed by a gun but the murderers premeditated her murder and saw it fit for her.

Heartbroken

The siblings said they were left heartbroken and mentally damaged as they were still wondering what she could have done to deserve such. After a long fight, they said she did not deserve to die for all that she had worked for. The message further read that the murderer’s decision to kill their sister resulted in the Magongo family being left without a child, her children without a mother, siblings without a sister, a husband without a wife as well as a grandchild with no grandmother.

“Making her a lunatic was far better than killing her. We wish a curse upon your life and all that you hold with your hands will fall apart as well as your dreams to be blown away by the winds. May you know no peace,” reads part of the message. They stated that what was done to their sister they would not forget anytime soon. Party Shongwe, who spoke on behalf of the Shongwe family, stated that they were ready to assist the police with investigations into the matter. They said they were even willing to pay private investigators that the police saw fit to assist with investigations.

Encouraged

“We also need closure on what happened to LaMagongo,” he said. Shongwe encouraged the people in attendance to pray for the truth to come out in their private corners. Nathi Magongo, on the other hand, appreciated the support they received from the people during their loss. He stated that they were hoping the Shongwe family would join hands with the Magongo family in raising the children left behind by the deceased. He stated that as a family, they were counting on the promise made by the police that they were going to get to the bottom of the matter and arrest the criminals. “We are finding solace in that the police have put in depth their nets as they have said and that they will come back with the fish,” he said. Magongo further said they were still shocked by what they found during post-mortem as his sister’s body was damaged.

Emphasis

He said he did not want to give full details because they were disturbing. He made emphasis on that they still did not have answers to why she was killed. National Commissioner (NatCom)  of Police William Tsitsibala Dlamini, who was represented by Shiselweni Regional Commissioner (RC) Tibonisile Mdziniso, emphasised the concerns about the murdering of police officers frequently.

He assured the nation that they were going to investigate to the end and were going to remain committed to serving emaSwati and protecting them. Lutsango from the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) had time to dance during the vigil and different pastors preached; mostly giving the family advice to put their trust in the Lord. After the morning prayer, the funeral proceeded to Makhwelela, a distance of about 15 kilometres from town, where she was laid to rest at the Shongwe homestead. Protocols that are normally observed when burying a police officer were all done including the gun salute, the casket covered with the police burner, the reading of the flowers that come with the police as well as the final salute after completion.,
