MANZINI – Some public transport vehicles did not operate yesterday.

President of the Eswatini Kombis and Buses Allied Workers Union (EKABAWU) Mxolisi Fakudze, said: “Some of our colleagues were not working because their employers advised them to park their vehicles as they feared that they could be damaged should the threats be acted upon.” Fakudze said despite that, they were working the whole day; however, their availability had not been productive as there were minimal commuters in the Manzini Bus Rank. He said they were anticipating feedback from their employers on what would happen today.

Meanwhile, at around 2pm, a group of people who were enjoying alcoholic beverages at Grand Valley (GV), along the Manzini Central Traffic Lights/Manzini Bus Rank Road, put some tree branches on the road, which blocked the flow of traffic. As a result, some public transport vehicles had to use alternative routes to get in and out of the city of Manzini. Later on, the group of men lit the tree branches and put rubbish on top of the fire. As this affected the flow of traffic, police were called and they put out the fire and cleared the road.
