NHLANGANO – Unknown arsonists torched government heavy machinery worth E4 795 000 at a depot based at Nsindzandlala.

Nsindzandlala is under Sandleni Constituency at Ngololweni in the Shiselweni Region. The burnt machinery included a tipper truck, a front loader and a dump truck. The incident happened on Saturday morning at 12:30am. According to information obtained from a source close to the area, the arsonists came from Methula Constituency direction down Mbulungwane to Nsindzandlala area. It also went up to Mbulungwane, New Haven and KuMethula Constituency.
It was said that this is not the first time the government depot was torched as on June 29, 2021, during the peak of the unrest in the country, the same place was incinerated by unknown arsonists.

During the first arson, there were 13 temporary houses occupied by civil servants, who had their clothes and other items inside burnt. It was gathered that most of the houses had handigas cylinders which burst in each house. When reached for comment, Ntombifuthi Dlamini, who is Ngololweni area Bucopho, confirmed the incident, but said she did not have further information. “I went there when it burnt and we called the police. I have not heard any word on who might have done it,” she said. Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed the incident.
