6 CARS BROKEN INTO AT FONTEYN

MBABANE – Six vehicles were yesterday broken into and had some items stolen at Fonteyn.

Among the vehicles were two Quantums and four cars, some of which had their windows broken. According to Vasco Mahlalela , one of the victims who had his car window broken, the break-in occurred at around 3am.
It was gathered that three vehicles, including a quantum, were broken into at a Gama homestead situated near a pre-school. Three others in another location in the same area were said to have also been broken into allegedly by the same thug/s. It is unknown how many people were involved in the robberies as police investigations are ongoing.

Shattering

Narrating how the incident happened, Mahlalela who is a tenant at the Gama homestead where the three vehicles were parked, said he heard a sound of glass shattering but was reluctant to go outside to check what was going on as he feared for his safety. He later amassed enough courage to go and ascertain what could the issue. “I decided to go outside when I heard that the crash sound was coming from where my car was parked,” Mahlalela said. He said the person who hit his Nissan vehicle window had already fled the scene when he got outside. Mahlalela mentioned that no items were stolen in his car. The car owner shared that it would cost him about E2 000 to have his car window fixed.

Another driver of a quantum who requested not to have his name revealed said his vehicle which had been parked with two other cars were broken into in the morning of the same day. “Money and a USB cable were stolen,” said the driver. Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed the matter. She said the police were still investigating the matter. Meanwhile, in a police report released by Vilakati, she stated that the Mbabane Police were investigating the theft of a motor vehicle where a 44-year-old man of Mpolonjeni discovered that his black Madza 2 Demio Sedan had been stolen. The police mouthpiece said the car was registered HSD 041 DM and was valued at E45 000 and was stolen while parked at Nkoyoyo. Vilakati said this happened on May 14, 2021 at 3am.
