MBABANE – “Do not be religious, but be romantic and relate to your wife.”

These words were shared by Reverend Absalom Dlamini who was sharing the Word of God during the wedding of Mbabane Alliance Church Reverend Johannes Vuyisile (JV) Mazibuko and Thulile Dlamini.

Following the demise of Reverend Mazibuko’s wife, Rose, in July this year, the man of God has since moved on and wedded his new wife, Thulile.

According to Reverend Dlamini, Reverend Mazibuko has since entered another chapter of his life. He stated that if there were no chapters in our lives, there would be no stories to tell.

Dlamini said as pastors, their wives were expecting a relationship and attention from them and not only spirituality. He said romance in marriage was not the work of the devil, but for the benefit of uniting and knowing each other well as partners. He said relationships tended to be boring because there was no romance.

He advised his fellow reverend to be reasonable and consider his partner at all times.

Prayed

Reverend Dlamini stated that after having prayed, Reverend Mazibuko got conviction and confirmation of his story which was correct. The reverend likened Reverend Mazibuko’s life story to that of biblical Job who was tested by the devil, losing everything he had, including his children. He said Reverend Mazibuko had been through a lot in his journey, which he did not specifically mention.

However, it is a fact that Reverend Mazibuko lost his wife after battling a long illness and after the burial, he tested positive for COVID-19 but survived.

Reverend Dlamini read the book of Job chapter 1 verse 21 and 22; which reads: “In all this, Job did not sin by blaming God.”

Reverend Dlamini stated that after all the hurt and pain that Reverend Mazibuko had gone through, they were praying to God to make him to be what He wanted him to become.

“You should not try to fight for the marriage to last, but for a relationship with your spouse. If there is no relationship, there will be no marriage,” he said.

Reverend Dlamini pleaded with the couple to fight for their relationship in order to enjoy their marriage, adding that every marriage was bound to prosper, provided the partners were working on their relationship. He said Job presented faith that was not shaken despite the sad stories in his life. “Before all the suffering, Job was a righteous and perfect man before God but He allowed him to go through pain.”

He mentioned that even Job’s friends were talking bad about him, stating that he was being punished by God, but he continued being faithful to Him.  Reverend Dlamini said God allowed His chosen to go through hurt and having gone through pain, the Lord then blessed more. Speaking on behalf of the Dlamini family, Bheki Macwele thanked the Mazibuko family for taking the responsibility to look after their daughter.

Macwele bade farewell to the bride but noted that she was still more than welcome at her home and should not forget it because she was a Mazibuko now.

He informed the couple that things were not always smooth in marriage, adding that the couple had passed through trying times where they received so much criticism, but came out strong.

Unity

“I want to let you know that it is not over as there are still more hardships that you will experience and we hope you will continue to fight in unity,” he said.

Macwele said for the couple to succeed, they should always make God their pillar, adding that they were just husband and wife and not pastor and wife.

He said because Mazibuko was a man of the cloth and marriage counsellor, it did not mean that he knew all the facts about marriage, adding that Thulile had been just introduced to marriage, hence it would not be easy.

Further, Macwele requested both families to pray for the couple as it was dependence on God that would make them succeed.

William Mazibuko, who spoke on behalf of the Mazibuko family, appreciated the support they were offered while preparations were being made to bring the bride home. He acknowledged Pastor Phil Mnisi and Attorney Zweli Jele, who were part of the negotiating team.

Mazibuko said the Alliance Church had also given immense support to the family when their son (Sibusiso) wedded his wife and now Reverend Mazibuko.

Meanwhile, he noted that they were in the media and criticised by many but came out unscathed. Mazibuko said they feared nothing about his brother, the reverend whom he referred to as a senior citizen, adding that Thulile was in warm hands.

He said they were proud of the reverend as a family. Further, he advised the reverend not to liken his new wife to anyone else as she was different. “She will never be the same with your late wife, but is just herself and should be treated that way.”

Mazibuko also advised the bride to choose her friends wisely. Church representative Bongani Dlamini said as a church (Mbabane Alliance), they supported their pastor and his wife. Dlamini noted that they had an opportunity to receive marriage counselling from Reverend Mazibuko, but as men in the church they also did same to him.

Warmth

Dlamini said the men from the church had an opportunity to address Mazibuko on marriage issues advising that he should be well prepared for his wife. Likewise, he said the women in the church also counselled Thulile. He pleaded with Thulile to bring warmth to the family as well as the church. As Mbabane Alliance Church, he said they were pleased to have come this far in unity and that all was well.
