‘THAT VIDEO IS INCOMPLETE’

MBABANE - Some people, including murder accused Ntuthuko Dlamini’s relatives, feel like there is a missing aspect of the circulating video.

The video depicts what is believed to have been the shooting that took place at Mhlabubovu on the Monday of September 7, 2020.

They feel that the person who captured the video only circulated a fraction of the incident, which only purportedly shows a person believed to be the former minister of Public Works and Transport opening fire on some of the attendees of the meeting.

After the incident, the individual believed to be the former minister is on record having said that he acted in self-defence.

The circulating video suspected to have been taken during the shooting that took place at LaMgabhi on September 7, 2020 has caused public outrage.

The visual footage suspected to have been taken moments leading to the shooting, shows a man purported to be the ex-minister, who was captured engaging in an argument with a group of men seated in improvised benches constructed from logs.  Worth noting is that some social media users have expressed their wish to know the individual who captured the incident and how he came to the decision to eventually release the footage to the public.

The men, who could have exceeded 15 people, are seen casually seated in the makeshift benches and eating from polysterine packs popularly known as takeaway.

While they were feasting, one of the men was seemingly engaged in an argument with the man supposed to be the erstwhile minister.

 Chinos

The man purported to be the ex-minister was clad in a blue coverall jacket, overlapping beneath it was a black golf shirt with white stripes. He was also wearing a pair of khaki chinos.

In the initial stages of the footage, one of the men engaged in the argument was calling upon the withdrawal of them (group of men) being called timfucuta.

This noun was viewed as derogatory by the man who was protesting the inference made.

He said: “Just because you have money and businesses don’t call us waste (timfucuta).”

While the commotion ensued, some of the men were paying little attention to what was happening and digging into their meals. As the argument escalated, the cameraman at some instance seemed to have been moving away from where the men were while others were captured expressing shock. This was when shots were fired.  It is not definite how many shots were fired; however, in the 61 seconds of the visual footage, three thuds, presumably echoes of the gunshots were captured.

Meanwhile, while all that was happening, a voice was captured in the background ordering all people to sit down and not move.

Following the circulation of the visual footage of the purported shooting, members of the public expressed their rage at local authorities in the manner the argument quickly escalated to a shooting.

Some felt that the manner in which the alleged shooter reacted during the argument was uncalled for and premeditated, as the gun was easily drawn and fired.

Others shifted blame on the people who were part of the meeting saying they looked like they were continuing with their business despite the gunshots.

Dlamini’s lawyer Noncedo Ndlangmandla said: “What we discussed with my client about the video is strictly between myself and him and is very confidential; I cannot disclose it to you.”
