COVID-19 HITS POLICE, DPM’S OFFICE

MBABANE – COVID-19 has invaded government offices. This follows the Deputy Prime Minister’s (DPM) office and the Royal Eswatini Police Services (REPS) headquarters reporting confirmed positive cases and closing for fumigation.


The DPM’s Office issued a press release informing the public that they would be closed for two days; from today and tomorrow, for routine fumigation following a confirmed case of COVID-19. According to the press release, only the headquarters will be closed, while operations in the regional offices will continue as usual. Operations will resume on Thursday.


Meanwhile, the REPS also reported that there were positive cases discovered.
Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed that they had few cases that had tested positive in some of their institutions, including the headquarters.
Vilakati said fortunately, all confirmed cases were recovering and some were back at work.


Guidelines


She said all their institutions were complying with the guidelines as prescribed by the Ministry of Health, which included fumigating the buildings where the positive cases had been identified.
Some of the cases were confirmed in police stations and posts in the Manzini Region.


There are currently seven police stations in the Manzini Region and the others are police posts. The police stations include; Mankayane, Mafutseni, Manzini, Matsapha, Malkerns, Mliba and Bhunya.
While the police posts are; Luve, Manzini Bus Rank, Satellite Bus Rank, Fairview North, Matsapha (Mahhala), Lushikishini, Mahlangatsha and Sandlane.
