MBABANE - The High Court was abruptly closed and fumigated yesterday amid fears that two judges tested positive for COVID-19.
News that the two judges, a male and female, had tested positive started circulating on Sunday.

Yesterday, it seemed like it would be business as usual, something which concerned staff as they decried that they could not continue working under such circumstances.

It was at around 1pm when a directive was issued for staff to vacate the premises and go home for the fumigation exercise to take place.
When one of the judges was sought for comment, he requested not to comment, saying he was yet to inform the authorities regarding his status.
A message was sent to Chief Justice (CJ) Bheki Maphalala to establish the measures his office would take to ensure the safety of staff and the public but he had not yet responded by the time of compiling this report.

A call was also made to his cellphone number, but it rang unanswered. It should be noted that following the outbreak of the coronavirus, the Law Society of Swaziland (LSS) displayed its urgent desire to meet with the CJ to discuss plans for containment of the virus in the country’s courts.
