MBABANE – A security guard hired by Worship Centre was killed in cold blood.

The guard, who was identified as Bongani Littler, was stabbed about 30 times mostly around the neck and his throat was slit open with a bottle.
Littler, who was a patron at the popular drinking spot, Fun Town at Fonteyn died in the wee hours of yesterday morning.

Fun Town is known for hosting popular flea market events which are normally held at the end of every month.
During the Fun Town Flea Market, popular DJs are normally invited to the hangout spot as well as small business entrepreneurs, who display their wares from fashionable clothing, jewellery and cosmetics among other items.

Discovered

Information gathered by this publication was that the deceased was discovered in the morning by a staff member, who works at the popular joint, soaked in blood and immediately screamed for help.
She informed the owners about the gory discovery and police were immediately called to the scene of crime.
A relative of the deceased confirmed the murder.

Information gathered from the relative was that when the incident happened, there was no one at the drinking spot except for the two.
He said Littler was a frequenter at the drinking spot and he was well-known in the area.

According to the relative, Littler’s throat was cut open with the bottle, while he was seated on one of the bar chairs and he died on the spot.
Defining Littler’s character, the relative said he was a soft-spoken person and would not hurt even a fly.

He said Littler enjoyed his alcoholic drinks and even when drunk he hardly raised his voice and would not be provocative as he had respect for others.
He said the 28-year old suspect, Simanga Dunn, who has been held in connection with the murder of Littler, was sharing a flat with him and they were acquaintances.

“We do not know the bone of contention, but when Littler was stabbed, he was too drunk and did not even attempt to fight back,” the relative said.

CCTV footage

He said they were able to identify the suspect through a close circuit television (CCTV) footage from a camera which was within the vicinity.
Meanwhile, he said Littler would make it a habit to remain inside the bar alone and they were used to that.

It is alleged that the suspect arrived at the drinking spot after it had been closed and found Littler, who was drunk, sitting on a chair.
The relative said the CCTV footage showed that the suspect slapped Littler before searching his pockets, then broke a bottle and stabbed him several times in the neck and left him there.
