MANZINI - The two men, who are alleged to have stabbed a UNESWA lecturer during the recently held Gay Pride event at the Mbabane Theatre Club, have been rearrested for alleged fraud.

The duo, Mxolisi Mbongiseni Mncina (27) of Mnyokane and Ndumiso Prince Dlamini (23) of Mankayane, were rounded up by officers from the fraud unit based at the Regional Headquarters over the weekend. They are alleged to have conned members of the public money amounting to about E150 000. The accused persons are currently out on bail after they were arrested and charged with attempted murder. They allegedly stabbed a lecturer of the University of Eswatini (UNESWA), Sanele Sibiya, who is also Rock of Hope Executive Director.

Meanwhile, information gathered is that the accused persons operated their ‘Forex Trading’ company at Zakhele opposite His Majesty’s Correctional Services (Remand Centre) and advertised their company, Millenium Gold in social media platforms. They would allegedly invite members of the public to join the scheme. The public would then sign agreement forms and contracts. “Those members of the public would then recruit other people, who would also go through the same procedure,” the statements submitted in court stated.

Statements

So far, the police have recorded statements from eight people. It was also gathered that the number of people could increase. The charge sheets state that the suspects made short-term investments for clients for quick cash, promising good returns. “In a period of 10 to 30 days, those monies would have an interest of up to 150 per cent. Some of the members of the public received the money, however some did not,” sources revealed. Some of the money would be deposited into their bank accounts or through Mobile Money, while most was paid in cash by members of the public at the duo’s offices.

One of the complainants is businesswoman Tebenguni Nxumalo, who was allegedly conned an amount of E91 000 by the accused persons.
