PIGG’S PEAK – When a man separated from his wife, little did he know that she would return to fetch the house – literally.

Phephile Mhlanga obtained an order from Hhohho Umphakatsi to allow her to collect roofing and some of her items from her former marital homestead.
This happened at a place known as Enjakeni under Nftonjeni Inkhundla.

Mhlanga, who is a well-known herbalist, alleged that she had been married to her husband, Zizi Dlamini, for about 20 years through Eswatini Law and custom.
She alleged that they divorced 2017 after which she requested that she be compensated for the house.

Zizi now lives with another woman who was at the homestead when Mhlanga arrived to fetch the roofing.
The dispute between Mhlanga and Zizi was initially heard at Hhohho Umphakatsi under Ntfonjeni after which an order was issued allowing her to be assisted to collect her roofing as well as doors, windows and a vehicle.

Arrived

On Saturday, Mhlanga arrived with a contingent of about 10 men, including two community police members and the secretary of the chief’s council, who was identified as Maphosa.

They arrived at around 6am and according to Zizi, he decided to take a walk outside the house when he saw several people at the homestead.
The secretary of the chief’s council, Maphosa, was armed with a written and stamped order which he said was from the local indvuna.
It was dated April 24, 2019 and signed by Sikhakhane Dlamini.

Mhlanga had returned to her once marital home but this time to fetch the roofing.
However, her ex-husband was not willing to let the roofing be removed easily.
Zizi then asked Mhlanga to enter the house while his new partner was inside and noises could be heard, with unpalatable statements being made between the two women.

He tried to ask Mhlanga not to remove the roofing but she did not accept the request, complaining that she had been patient for a long time.
While the three were inside the house, a community police member, who was outside then forced his way inside the house to stop the fracas.
At this point, Zizi was then seen calling the police for help but they did not arrive on time.
