MBABANE – The former Deputy Prime Minister, Paul Dlamini, will be cruising in a new vehicle this year.

Dlamini will be chauffeured in a new vehicle courtesy of Finance Circular No.2 of 2013. This circular awards Dlamini with a vehicle after vacating office that befits his status as an erstwhile DPM.

The Central Transport Administration (CTA) has already procured the vehicle through Tender No.99 of 2018/2019.
This vehicle is worth E1 727 858.80 and is yet to be delivered to the country. Finance Circular No.2 of 2013 states that the State shall provide a vehicle to a retiring prime minister and his deputy of the same status as those that are in service.

“These will be owned and maintained by the government beyond their term of office. On the death of the former Prime Minister or Deputy, the official car shall be sold to his estate at depreciated value,” reads in part the circular.

The annual performance report for the year 2018/2019 for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport did not state which company was awarded this tender.
Also yet to be delivered are 126 close protection vehicles worth E89 million and a firefighting vehicle and equipment worth E10 908 194.10.
