MHLATANE TEACHER CAUGHT HALF NAKED WITH PUPIL

PIGG’S PEAK – Barely a week after police officers under the Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Unit visited Mhlatane High School, a teacher was allegedly caught half naked with a pupil.

The name of the teacher will not be revealed since he has not been formally charged or appeared before court.
This publication has, however, established that the girl concerned is about 20 years old and that she is doing one of the upper grades at the school.
It is alleged the duo was found in a compromising position and partly naked.

The alleged incident is said to have happened last Sunday while three days prior, police officer Ntsikie Dlamini visited the school accompanied by other officers to educate both teachers and pupils about the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence (SODV) Act.

Ntsikie had been invited to the school which had held a Motivation Week since last week Monday.
It is alleged that on the day of the incident, the teacher and the pupil were found, some of the teachers within the teachers’ quarters compound were not happy after allegedly seeing the girl entering the house.

The teachers are said to have been particularly furious, especially because police officers had earlier visited the school to condemn such acts.
“They called the police to see for themselves,” said some of the teachers asking not to be mentioned.

Police officers are said to have rushed to the house only to find the said teacher allegedly with the pupil.
The pupil as well as the teacher were both taken in for questioning but the teacher was not arrested or formally charged.
It is alleged the pupil was also taken to the hospital as is the norm with cases relating to sexual offences.

The details will not be mentioned as this could form part of court evidence should the matter reach that stage.

Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati when reached for comment, confirmed the incident.
She said the teacher had not been charged because the matter was still under investigation to determine the exact charge that would apply.

Mhlatane High School will investigate the matter relating to the teacher who was allegedly caught half naked in his house with a pupil.
Dr Mandla Dlamini, the Head teacher at the school, when reached for comment, said he was not aware of the matter at the time.
He, however, said he would have to investigate on Tuesday (today).

Meanwhile, the Regional Education Officer Langwenya said she was not aware of the matter.
However, speaking generally, Langwenya said the Ministry of Education and Training treated such cases the same regardless of whether the pupil was below or above 20 years.
