FORMER PS KILLS HIMSELF

HLANE – Relatives and friends of former Principal Secretary in the Ministry of ICT, Sikelela Dlamini, were yesterday left with unanswered questions after he was found hanging within his homestead.

ICT is an acronym for Information, Communication and Technology.
Dlamini, a member of the royal family, is known in government structures as he was one of the longest serving undersecretaries before he assumed the position of PS.

He also served in the position of secretary to Cabinet and on foreign mission.
Information gathered was that Dlamini was found dead inside one of the structures (lisango) at his homestead at Hlane yesterday morning. Lisango is a structure where men discuss their issues just as women do inside their enclosure (liguma).

When this publication arrived at his homestead, police officers who attended to the scene were found at the veranda of one of the houses with their equipment. It was established that the officers of the law were waiting to inform the elders about their findings after attending to the scene.

The police included those under the Forensic Pathology Department from the Lubombo Region, who took Dlamini’s corpse to hospital where he was certified dead upon arrival. Among them was also the desk officer from Simunye Police Station.

The desk officer declined to comment. While still at the homestead, the desk officer, who was in the company of eight police officers, was seen addressing some family members.

The family members, who included the deceased’s brothers, only confirmed the incident. They requested not to comment further as the matter was yet to be reported to Their Majesties.

The family further stated that they were yet to get the report from the police who attended to the scene.
 family members were seen consoling those who couldn’t contain their emotions.

Police Information and Communications Officer, Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed a report of a man who was found hanging at Hlane. Vilakati said the police were still investigating the matter.
