SITEKI – She is a genius! This best describes Mandisa Mabuza, one of the top performers in the 2018 Grade VII examinations.

The 12-year-old from Mahlabaneni Primary School in Big Bend achieved an impressive 80 per cent aggregate and was placed position six nationwide.
Her story to academic stardom is both amazing and unbelievable. After having passed her Grade VI with flying colours in 2017, she was forced to leave her school (Ikhwezi Primary) after her family had moved to Big Bend.
Fortunately, she got admitted to Mahlabaneni Primary School near Matata but she only started classes in March.

However, this certainly did not affect her as she demonstrated her great intellectual ability by quickly catching up with the rest of the class.
By the end of the term, she managed to attain overwhelming results-outperforming pupils who had attended classes since the first day of the academic year.
When examinations started, Mabuza was more than ready and she once again demonstrated her intelligence by attaining overwhelming results.

“I’m grateful to my teachers and to my parents who assisted me. I knew I was going to pass because I have always done well,” she stated.
She further mentioned that her motivation, among other things, was that her mother had promised to buy her a laplop if she achieved good results.
But on top of that, the whizz-kid said she was motivated to work hard by her ambition to become a civil engineer.

Her dream is right on track as she has been offered a place at the renowned Manzini Nazarene High School.
Meanwhile, Mabuza’s mother said she was very proud of her daughter, adding that she could have done better than what she achieved.
Matseliso Msibi, a teacher at U-Tech School, said she never had any doubt that her daughter would perform well as she had been attaining good grades since the first grade.
“The reason I enrolled her at Manzini Nazarene High is that I’m also a product of the school. Secondly, I admire the school’s strong Christian values,” she stated.
In the Lubombo Region, Mabuza was only outperformed by Thembukulunga Dlamini from Thembelisha Preparatory School, who attained 82 per cent aggregate.
